Soon enough we drove into Red Canyon, one minute you’re driving in the forest with lots of trees and the other there’s dry red massive rocks. We’ve seen lots of different sights on this road and it was beautiful.
Bryce Canyon was great. At first we drove the entire road because all the viewing points were on the other side of the road. Then it really began. We were up over 9,000ft again and you could see that from the viewing points. It was terrifying but also so beautiful that you couldn’t stop looking. The red of the rocks with the white from some other formations was stunning and I took some pretty decent photo’s there. We’ve heard the crickets(they were loud!) and seen some antelope kind of deer thing(yeah accurate huh).
From there on it was around a 3 hour drive but I’m pretty sure for mom it felt like 3 weeks. There was a road on the map that was really short but went through Escalante National Staircase. Which shouldn’t be a problem, only they hadn’t invented highways yet so it was all dirt road. With some bumps and dips and massive cliffs. Me and dad had great fun looking around and making jokes. Mom however, wasn’t too fond of the idea. The car wasn’t either because we rented a black one and got out of the park with a light brown one!
We arrived in Page fairly early and mom was able to do some laundry across the street while me and dad went to wash up the car a bit. Finally it was kind of black again(couldn’t get all of the dust off yet!) and we went looking for a place where I could do my Antelope Canyon photo tour. Well this turned out to be a massive tourist trap. Where a couple years ago as a photographer you’d be in the Canyon with maybe a dozen people, now they squeeze 400 in there which leaves no room for a decent photo. I decided not to go on the tour at all so we will have tomorrow to go to the Grand Canyon already!
The motel sucks, it’s the first one that’s actually bad. The AC makes a LOT of noise(while the plug is out!) and we have a tv that looks to be made in the 1920s. Also the WIFI is really bad and there’s not fridge either. I’m curious as to how tonight will go. We’re all in bed with no tv(can’t stand looking at it!) and no wireless.
So sorry for the lack of updates !
